Round Results for Auctions Held from 1994- May 2005

Prior to Auction No. 60, the bidding results for each round of the FCC spectrum auctions were made available to the public in a database (.dbf), text (.txt) and, for auctions after Auction No. 20, Microsoft Access (.mdb) file format. These files can be downloaded by clicking on the "Round Results" link for the specific auction and selecting the appropriate folder: txt, dbf or mdb. Once the files have been downloaded they can be imported into a database application such as Microsoft Access, or into a spreadsheet application such as Microsoft Excel, Quattro Pro, or Lotus 1-2-3. For some auctions, the FCC has provided a tracking tool for analyzing auction results.
More detail about the files, their types, and their contents is located below.

FCC Auction Tracking Tool Round Results Files

Microsoft Excel-based Tracking Tool
The FCC Auction Bidding System generates four files (six files for auctions prior to Auction No. 12) for each round of the auction. The files are named using the following A_BBBC.dbf, where A is the auction identification number (e.g. 5 = PCS C-Block), BBB is the round number, and C designates the content of the file. The following table lists the possible types of content designated by C. These files were originally used by a Microsoft Excel based auctions tracking tool, supplied by the FCC, to assist bidders and the public with analyzing auction results.

Tracking Tool Files
Prefix
"C"
Auctions No. 4 through 12Auctions After No. 12
eEligibility and remaining waivers for every bidder as of the close of bid submissionEligibility and remaining waivers for each bidder
h High bids in a particular round and the minimum bid increments for the next round
mMinimum acceptable bids for the next round for all licenses
sAll submitted bids during the bid submission period, pre-withdrawalAll submitted bids in a particular round
wWithdrawn high bids during the bid withdrawal periodAll withdrawn bids in a particular round
xHigh bids for every market as of the close of the bid submission period
yHigh bids for every market as of the close of the round (post withdrawal)

For example, the file 14_030e.dbf contains the eligibility and remaining waivers for each bidder for round 30 of auction No. 14.
The "Bidder Cross Reference" file contains the bidder's name and the four digit bidder identification number. The "Market Data" file includes the market name, number and population.
Microsoft Access-based Tracking Tool
Since Auction No. 20, the FCC has supplied a Microsoft Access based auction tracking tool to assist bidders and the public with analyzing auction results. The files, one for each round, can be accessed from the above table by clicking on the appropriate auction "Results" link and selecting the "mdb" subdirectory.
Visit the Tracking Tool page to download the auction tracking tool and a readme file for each auction.
