Rechannelization of the 17.7-19.7 GHz Frequency Band for Fixed Microwave Services Under Part 101 of the Commission's Rules
In April 2004, the Commission, by Notice of Proposed Rulemaking began, a proceeding to address the channelization of the 17.7-19.7 GHz band in an effort to promote effective utilization of the portion of the band that is designated for use by terrestrial fixed services. The Commission believes that the proposals and decisions stemming from this proceeding will promote more efficient use of the remaining fixed services spectrum in the 18 GHz band and help to increase spectrum availability for new fixed services operations, both by incumbents and new entrants.
