          FCC Sponsors Seminar on 800 MHz SMR Auction 
              Event to Be Held September 17, 1997 

     On September 17, 1997 the FCC will sponsor a half-day seminar for the 800 MHz
Specialized Mobile Radio (SMR) auction, which is scheduled to begin on October 28, 1997.  This
seminar will be held at the Renaissance Hotel, 999 9th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001 from
1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The seminar will provide attendees with information about pre-auction
procedures, conduct of the auction, FCC remote bidding software, and the 800 MHz SMR
service and auction rules.

     Please note that a maximum of two representatives from each company may attend, first-come first-served, on a reservation basis until room capacity is filled.  To register complete the
form attached to this Public Notice and return no later that September 12, 1997. 
Additional seating may be available on the day of the seminar.  Please contact the Auctions
